This Saturday the national political attention will turn towards Manchester, New Hampshire where all 19 Democratic Presidential candidates will be appearing at the New Hampshire Democratic Party State Convention. New Hampshire Democrats are feeling emboldened, citing polls that show President Trump’s popularity trailing in the state. NH Democrats have also out raised their Republican colleagues and hope to help select a winning candidate. That said, there remains considerable unease over the ability of potential Democratic nominees to win the general election. A recent Politico article highlights that local party leaders have been much more hesitant to endorse a candidate after having been burned by backing Hillary Clinton in 2016. The latest polls continue to show the race as largely a three way race among Biden, Warren, and Sanders. We believe that Warren and Sanders have the edge in New Hampshire given their neighboring state residence. One metric to watch is the attendance this weekend at the Democratic State convention and compare it to the number of attendees at Trump’s rally last month also held in Manchester. Maybe it will give us a hint at the partisan intensity. For now, all eyes on Manchester … stay tune, we’ll be sharing our takeaways.
