Can Biden turn it around?

With Biden slipping in the polls, can his campaign turn it around? We think he still has a chance. We noticed that Biden’s team has started to question Warren’s electability against Trump. We think it is a fair point. Warren has never been a great vote getter in Massachusetts. She has tended to perform well among the better educated districts such as Cambridge while lagging in the more blue color districts. Biden arguably would do much better with blue collar and working class voters and has consistently polled better in a head to head election with Trump. That said, we don’t think that Biden can rely only on electability to defeat Warren. In our view, Biden needs a positive policy message as well about why voters should vote for him. Vice Presidents — think Mondale and Gore — don’t have the best record of winning. Biden’s team should pick a few signature policy issues so that voters have a reason to support him, not just that Warren’s ability to win the following November is uncertain.
