We had expected Bernie Sanders to win big on Super Tuesday. We were wrong. The night belongs to Joe Biden. Biden has scored big victories throughout the South (Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Oklahoma) as well as Massachusetts and Minnesota. We knew that Biden was going to do well in the South but he far exceeded our expectations. Bernie Sanders has still scored some solid victories, winning in California, Vermont, Colorado and Utah. As we write, the outcome of Texas and Maine is unclear as is the magnitude of Sanders victory in California. We will provide more detailed analysis in the morning when the results are all in, but tonight is a great night for Biden, a set back for Sanders, and a very difficult night for Bloomberg and Warren.
